Amy tucked her face underneath Shadow's quills and against his shoulder to shield herself from the wind. She held onto Shadow's belly tightly. Shadow breathed slowly, exhaling through his mouth to calm himself. This girl was driving him insane, the soft touches, the blush on her cheeks. Why? He didn't know.

They rode through the dead wood until they came back to the city. Shadow took the back roads to Amy's house. When he came up to her house in her small neighborhood, he slowed to stop and let her get off.

Amy unhooked the buckle and took off the helmet, handing it to him and fixing her hair. Shadow stored the helmet behind him.

Amy saw he was getting ready to leave.

"W-wait!"

Shadow paused, starring at her in question.

Amy fiddled with her thumbs.

"I…I just wanted to thank you for giving me a ride home."

Shadow grunted in reply.

Amy fixed her hair a little.

"You don't have leave now…you can stay with me…I won't tell anyone…"

'Plus, I want to get more of a conversation out of you,' she said to herself.

Shadow seemed to ponder the thought. He took off his glasses with a sigh through his nose, leaning on the handlebars.

Amy watched his body movement, but she couldn't read what it said.

Shadow picked up the kickstand, giving her a look before driving off.

Amy closed her eyes from the wind. She watched him drive off, wondering if it was something she said.

She sighed sadly and turned, walking to her front door. She looked in the direction he went one last time, before going into the house. She quickly got to work cleaning the house. She set out all the party items and started pouring mix into a bowl for the cake.

"Hmm…let's see…"

She picked up the directions.

"One cup of milk."

She turned towards the refrigerator and got the milk. She turned back and gasped.

The black hedgehog was in her house, right in front of her. He was reading the cake mix box.

Amy blinked and then walked towards him.

"Shadow?"

Said hedgehog flicked his eyes towards her.

Amy was getting a little tired of not being answered but didn't want to offend him.

"Why are you in my house?"

The hedgehog put down the box and motioned towards the wall.

"Your window was open."

Amy blinked again.

"But WHY?"

Shadow seemed to shrug slightly as he leaned against a wall, crossing his arms.

"It is your birthday…is it not?"

Amy casually started making the cake again.

"Well, yes…but I thought you didn't want to stay."

Shadow looked off in front of him.

"I had to park in the alley….no one should see a G.U.N. agent at someone's house."

"Oh…"

'This is getting a little awkward…I'll just talk about what's going on tonight,' she thought.

"Anyway…I just have to make my cake and then get dressed. Hopefully the others will arrive soon."

The black hedgehog had his eyes closed and seemed uninterested.

Amy decided to give up. She didn't want to get any more pissed off from not being answered, so she just stopped talking besides an occasional comment to herself. She finally finished mixing and pouring the batter into the cake pan. She put on gloves and put it the oven, setting a timer. While the cake cooked, she finished setting up the house and did the laundry. She was putting the clothes away when a shadow of a hedgehog came next to her. She looked up and saw the black being beside her.

"Shadow?"

The Ultimate Lifeform simply starred at her, searching her over with his crimson depths.

Amy repeated herself. Still he didn't answer.

Amy put her hands on her hips.

"Y'know, maybe more people would like you if you actually communicated back to them!"

Shadow didn't flinch.

"And maybe more people would like you if you didn't break into their living courters."

Amy gasped in mad shock. Sure she'd broken in before but it was only Sonic's house...well of course you'd have to add Shadow now…

"Well at least I let people know what I feel before I do something!"

She was meaning the incident in the woods. He had scared the living daylights out of her and she still didn't know his reasoning.

Shadow walked up to her.

"Is that so?"

Amy backed away from him. She found herself trapped against a wall as the dark being came closer. He put a hand on the wall in front of him.

He looked into her eyes.

She looked away.

He put his free hand on her chin, lifting towards him. Their faces were inches apart.

"Tell me Rose…what do you feel now?"

'Warmth,' she wanted to say, 'safe…'

She blushed noticeably.

He moved closer.

Amy tried to escape his gaze  with fetal attempts.

She closed her eyes to block out the image coming closer.

Suddenly a smell filled her nose.

Smoke.

Amy gasped, "The cake!"

She ran from him and into the kitchen. The fire alarms went off as smoke filled the air. She coughed as she turned off the oven and opened it. A cloud of smoke came at her and she shielded her face. She grabbed a towel and grabbed the pan, taking it out. She dropped it on the counter with a yelp. She had to lift it up onto a placemat so it wouldn't burn a mark onto it. When she finally got it safely away from the oven she panted with effort, looking to her hand. The towel she grabbed was practically paper thin and burned a deep mark into it. It went straight through the glove and was blistering quickly. A little blood came from it. She winced as she saw her glove burned, not wanting to see her hand.

Shadow slowly walked into the room, examining the scene. He walked up to her.

"Cook much?"

That was the last straw, Amy couldn't take this anymore. She didn't know what to say considering he hadn't really done anything wrong, but she just wanted to yell. Truth was, she's not exactly the happy hedgie she acted like all the time.

"No! Okay? I don't! Look, you could've at least told me when the timer went off!"

She started to walk away, but Shadow grabbed her.

He held her by the wrists.

She struggled a little in his grasp.

"L-let go of me!"

He held her firmly, and she stopped. Their eyes met again. Amy found herself motionless by them.

Shadow looked to her hand, seeing the burn mark. He slowly slid off the glove, looking at the wound. Amy winced slightly as the cold air hit it. He brought the hand closer to his face, breathing on it gently, before putting the whole wound against his mouth.

Amy gasped in surprise.

Shadow's eyes closed. He opened his mouth and ran his tongue along the burn, breathing and taking it in. Amy didn't move, but flinched a little as he got to the deepest part. Shadow paused at her flinch, and licked at it gently. He covered to whole wound with saliva, then took his face away, opening his eyes and pressing his own hand against hers and intertwining their fingers.

His hand glowed a bright yellow. Amy suddenly felt the pain leave her hand. Shadow removed his, walking away without a word. Amy watched him go, before looking at her hand. It was completely healed, not even a scar, as if it never happened.

She followed his path and found him standing in the corner of the den, his arms crossed and eyes closed. She walked silently to him. His ear twitched, a sign he heard her, and opened his eyes. Amy blushed a little.

"W-what did you just do?"

Shadow glanced out the window.

"G.U.N. says I'm a living weapon…but in actuality Gerald Robotnik created the Ultimate Lifeform to cure his granddaughter, Maria."

He paused for a second.

"I posses genes in my DNA that are able to cure any sickness, disease or wound. That's why I never get sick, and why my wounds are quickly healed."

Amy didn't know what to say.

"Did…did you have to lick it?"

"It was either that or cut myself and rub my blood on you. Somehow I figured this would be a less…messy solution."

"….But…why did you heal me? After all I said…"

Shadow turned his head towards her.

"I wouldn't want a wound if it was my birthday."

Amy smiled a little.

"When is your birthday?"

Shadow looked away again.

"I do not know. Such knowledge was never granted to me."

Amy frowned. 'He doesn't even know his own birthday? That's horrible! I'm glad I wasn't…made or created or whatever…"

Shadow noticed her in deep thought.

"It is a good thing though."

Amy looked up.

"How?"

Shadow seemed to smirk a little as he looked back out the window.

"Too much junk."
Finally the next part! Oh that part about Shadow being able to heal is actually true!
